PM CALLS FOR RELIEF PLAN





PM ASKS OFFICIALS TO PREPARE PLAN FOR RELIEF WITHIN ONE MONTH FUTHER DETAILS

Kathmandu, 30 Aug.: Prime Minister Dr.Baburam Bhattarai Tuesday asked top officials to prepare within one month a plan for relief to people at a meeting in Singha Durbar.
He sought their cooperation in completing a delayed peace process and constitution drafting and promulgation.

DIARRHOEA KILLS ONE, 13 SICK IN ROLPA

Kathmandu, 30 Aug.: A diarrhoea outbreak at Jailbang in Rolpa has claimed the life of a woman.
Thirteen have fallen sick, Radio Nepal reported Tueday.

EMBASSIES URGE ACTION ON DISAPPEARANCES

Kathmandu, 30 Aug.: Embassies of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, Canada, Japan and the United States Tuesday called for an independent and impartial l Commission of Inquiry on Disappearances can be established as soon as possible
“We encourage parliamentarians to prioritise amendment of the draft legislation so that it meets Supreme Court rulings and international standards. This will bring hope to the thousands who are still awaiting justice, “a statement issued through the British embassy said.

“We call on the Government to meet the commitments it made before the UN Human Rights Council by ensuring the full application of the rule of law to state and non-state personnel involved in disappearances.
“The Government should also ensure that police and court orders are followed through, and that arrest warrants are executed,” the statement said.

They accused first Nepal Army and then UCPN-Maoist for ‘refusal ‘to cooperate in investigations.
