MJF, Maoists call strikes

Kathmandu, 8 June: A strike called by MJF opposing what has been called attempts by Nepali Congress and CPN-UML to divide the biggest party in the terai has paralyzed life in the south Tuesday.
A faction has joined the government of Madhav Kumar Nepal opposed by another group.
Continuing anti-president strike called by Maoists has disturbed life in eight districts of Gandaki and Dhaulagiri anchals Monday.

Parliamentary team to visit Dang

Kathmandu, 8 June: A 14-member parliamentary team is visiting Dang for an on-the-spot inspection of alleged border encroachment in the district denied by the Indian embassy.
But encroachment has been confirmed b7y local authorities and people.
Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala has come under criticism for saying there was no Indian encroachment.

Youth killed in continuing terai violence

Kathmandu, 8 June: A youth was killed in Dhanusha overnight in continuing violence in the terai.
Surendra Mahoto, 25, of neighbouring Mohottari was shot dead at a village in the district.

Japanese, Indian tourists injured in bus attack

Kathmandu, 8 June: A Japanese and Indian tourist were injured in an attack on a bus by a group in Chitwan Sunday.
Among the seven injured were Japanese Robishi Masuli and Najir Alam.
