Wild elephants kill two in Sunsari

Kathmandu, 30 April: Two were killed Thursday by wild elephants morning in a forest in Sunsari while foraging.
Both were males.

Rehabilitation, integration of Maoist combatants not possible within 15 July: UN

Kathmandu, 30 April: The rehabilitation and integration of 19,000 plus Maoist combatants in Nepal Army by 15 July may not be possible, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said in a review report from 23 January to 24 April.
“The spirit of cooperation that is required to advance the peace process needs to be reviewed,” he said.
UNMIN mandate ends in July.
Ban said differences between political parties hinderd the implementation of the peace process.
He said there is also an atmosphere of mistrust between the Maoist-led government and Nepal Army.

Liaison officer killed in Gangapurna

Kathmandu, 30April: A liaison officer with an Iranian expedition died of altitude sickness on the 7485 meters high Gangapurna, Ministry of Tourism said.
Deepak Parsain died this week on the mountain.
Italian national Gipuesse Antonelli, 38, died Tuesday of suspected kidney failure on the *163 meters high Manaslu which was scaled by a Nepali and two Koreans Tuesday.
One Polish climber died this spring on Dhaulagiri.

Teacher shot dead in Bara

Kathmandu, 30 April: Teacher Pradip Timalshina was shot dead in Bara Thursday.
Three persons decamped after the shooting.
