PM cancels Norway, Finland visits (BREAKING NEWS)

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: PM Prachanda Thursday cancelled his officials visits of Norway and Finland, his press secretary said.
Internal developments led to the cancellation.
New dates will be later announced later.
The PM was scheduled to leave for the two countries Saturday.
He was visiting the left Scandinavian countries after Maoists had decided to develop an ‘anti-imperialist’ against Americans.

Delayed German-aided mid-Marshyangdhi starts generation; other details

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Delayed and lately controversial mid-German-aided mid-Marshyangdhi hydro project started generating 30 MA electricity Wednesday night amid a crippling power shortage in the end of winter.
Minpachas or 50 days of 50 days of winter in the Valley ends in another right days.
The country Wednesday celebrated the first spring festival or Manghe Shankranti Wednesday; Sharashwoti puja will be celebrated in the next few days.
The project was inaugurated by PM Prachanda last week even before completion to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of Nepal-German diplomatic relations under alleged pressure from Germans.
The project was shut down hours after the inauguration.
Government paid inflated costs for the delayed project after Maoist workers repeatedly intervened in construction during and after the people’s war that was called off April 2005 after the royal regime was toppled.
PM Prachanda Wednesday blamed the panchayat and the ‘parliamentary regimes’ for the current power crisis even though no major power generation projects were undertaken by successive governments in the last three years in Maoists were involved.
“There’s just too much politics without development,” one commentator said.

Main opposition discusses PM Prachada threat to capture power through revolution

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Nepali Congress central leaders Wednesday reviewed threats by PM Prachanda one day earlier to capture state power if the incumbent Maoist-led government was toppled.
The prime minister repeated the threat in Bardira Wednesday.
CPN-UML General Secretary Jhalanath Khanal Wednesday said the threat was ‘irresponsible’.

Pvt Ltd that publishes The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post Thursday complained a Maoist ‘illegal’ union was obstructing work.

First central committee meet of Unified CPN (Maoist)

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Unified CPN (Maoist) Thursday began the first central committee meeting in the capital after CPN (Maoist) CPN (Unity Center) merged this week.
The meeting is discussing appointment of more central committee and politburo members, Maoist leader CP Gajurel said.
The revolutionary new party is discussing protest programmes.
The goal of the unified party is to establish a people’s republic.

After The government of PM Prachanda isn’t promoting Indian interests, sources said New Delhi has started new initiatives.
After Prachanda-led government started developing close ties with China, India has concluded Chinese activities are increasing in Nepal and is angry with Prachanda.

Police intervene to stop greater Nepal film showing

Kathmandu, 15 Jan: Local administration stopped the screening of ‘Search for Greater Nepal border” Saturday at World Trade Center on Indian embassy pressure, Janadharana reports.
