Maoist ministers preparing to resign

By Bhola B Rana

Kathmandu, 20 May: India wants a government should be formed under leadership of Maoists and the Nepal Army should be under Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s command, Madhav Basnet reports in Dhristi.
Differences have widened between Maoists and Congress on government formation even with an Indian role.
Premier Koirala is demanding Maoists make his president.
India was pushing for a ceremonial president; but Congress is now demanding Koirala should be declared president and commander-in-chief of the Nepal Army with powers to declare an emergency.
According to sources, Maoist ministers are preparing to resign May 29 or one day after CA meets after learning of the Congress move to create a moral crisis for Koirala.
After the resignation, Koirala will have to prove a two-third majority or another alternative is to resign after which Maoists will attempt to form a government as the largest party in the CA.
A constitutional crisis will loom large and Maoists will try to capture power during the crisis.
Meanwhile, Maoists are preparing to pour masse into the Valley and surround the palace before 28 May if the King doesn’t vacate it.
Police and army have been put on a state of alert
